Vodacom = 50% Vodafone + 50% Telkom

1 Comment 27 January 2006

or it soon will be anyways. Due to the interest in the Who oWns Vodacom post I though I’d keep you updated.

Vodafone’s aim is to gain VenFin’s 15% stake in local cellular network operator Vodacom, which would give it a 50% shareholding in Vodacom – equal to the stake owned by fixed-line operator Telkom.

No matter how you try cutting your communication costs by using MXit, moblitz or wireless internet. Telkom will always get its cut. Will this be the end of the Vodacom brand? Have you’ve noticed that many, if not all, of the Vodacom 3G mobile phones already have the Vodafone brand? Yebo Yes! It’s starting already. Since when do South African’s (me) call cell phones, mobile phones?

Read rest of the article about Vodafone’s offer.

Vodafone, TelkomVodakom. Now lets make sound a bit less Afrikaans, Vodacom. My 2cents or 1 moola on MXit :)
