Where the AJAX shopping cart came from (Part2)

View Comments 28 June 2006

Standard Bank should activate us tomorrow

So I guess we’ll unleash our bespoke AJAX shopping cart to you communicators tomorrow. Will probably post it while/after enjoying a free cup of coffee and muffins with the other BarCamp Cape Town peoples. Does anyone know if they’ve go Wi-fi yet?

Back to the Shopping cart with lotsa AJAX ‘stuff’…

Our first meeting went pretty well, compiled a proposal (I do not write proposals or business plans the way I blog) and it was in the bag :)

We do not want any e-commerce or shopping cart functionality, just a simple online catalogue to display all our beads, sliders, swarovski crystals, thread, pendants…

Geen probleem, there are almost as many open-source CMS systems out there as there MXit users. Our graphic designer & I met with them once again to do the usual and silence…

[9 months of silence]

The nine months of silence was caused by factors beyond our or their control but what a good 9 months it turned out to be.

Discoverring Ajax, Blogging, iDRIVE.co.za, Writing Business plans, and we built an AJAX powered CRM
[/9months of silence]

A call out of the blue & they want to meet again and this time…

We want a full blown e-commerce shopping cart with credit card processing and all the bell and whistles.

OScommerce is the first thing we think but…

I do not like OScommerce do not want to anything like it.

Sweetness let build our own shopping cart, add all the SEO and AJAX goodness that we’ve learnt in the 9 months of silence that many other (not all) shopping carts lack :)

Yikes, there is lots to do today still. I’ll tell you the rest of the story at Caffeine tomorrow.

Almost all the pages have been indexed already and some have been ranked by Big G & we’ll only be going live tomorrow :)

Feeling glad, I’ve got sunshine in a bag.
