LinkedIn Winkie

4 Comments 07 August 2006

Like a kid with a new toy I tend to get carried away when discovering something new (to me) and play with it till its or people start complaining.
Still can’t figure this Linkie Winkie thing out but found something fun known as LinkedIn.

I’m not going to explain what it does or is but go see for yourself.

Here’s a little snippet from My LinkedIn, not Linkie IWnkie, network:

  • Dave Duarte has just added 1 new connection
  • Mike Stopforth has just added 12 new connections
  • Miguel Dos Santos has just added 1 new connection
  • See all…

17,505 new people in your network since August 4

I’m LinkedIN addict, hopelessly so. It’s probably all useless effort but I like addictive things.

    Anyhow.

I find it actually works… might not be true for everybody, but I’m a marketer/salesman and good leads through mutually trusted associates are as good as gold/sold.

I must agree on the good leads bit, yesterday morning’s meet lasted 5 minutes & we have anew client. They were sold on us before we even met :)

I’ve been on LinkedIn for a while, but I haven’t recruited for it or used it properly. The proposition is compelling – use your social network as vendors or to endorse you or someone in their network. My barrier to adoption is that I don’t normally go to my social network for this sort of thing. Isn’t it strange that no matter how compelling, humans will hardly ever adopt new technology if it does not do a job that they are not already doing?!
