Tips for successful startups by successful startups

View Comments 30 August 2006

Now that Rafiq’s Vodacom rant is done, let me expand on the mysterious post before on making meaning not money. Guy Kawasaki is a venture capatalist and MD of Garage Tachnology Ventures. I’ve been following blog for a little while now and found him to be very clued up.

Make meaning not money is the first pointer for startup businesses in his presentation video The Art of the Start, which is based on his book The Art of the Start. The presentation has some brilliant advice for entrepenuers about starting up a business.

There is another newer presentation on Guy Kawaski’s blog for startup business success in 2006 featuring some interesting speakers, namely,

  • Lauren Elliott, Founder, Personal News Network
  • Reid Hoffman, Co-Founder and CEO, LinkedIn
  • Joe Kraus, Co-Founder and CEO, JotSpot
  • Daniel Mattes, Co-Founder and CTO, Jajah
  • Alex Welch, Co-Founder and CEO, Photobucket

I haven’t yet watched it yet, as it’s a 1 hour 30mins long and with our slow internet it takes a while, but with the high profile speakers invovled and Guy Kawasaki’s reputation, it promises to be a good one and well worth the wait.
