With more and more RSS feeds Google/ig (personalised homepage) was getting a bit crowded, so the Google team updated Google/ig with tabs.
Cool, but how about combining all the rss feeds you subscribe to and sorting them in chronological order? Not possible with personalised google, hello Google Reader.
All the RSS sorted into your specified categories (tags) in order as they are published. While reading Matt Cutts blog (thanks R0b St0kes
) the following catches my attention:
- A mobile reader. A digg commenter mentions http://www.google.com/reader/m/ . Okay, I tried it and the mobile reader works well–it even shows tiny pictures on my phone if they’re in the post. Reader also somehow sent back the “Matt has read this post info, so once I finish an item on my phone, it’s marked as read when I reload Reader in my desktop browser. That’s pretty cool, and now I yearn to upgrade my phone.
Chatting to Mike Stopforth on MXit, helping him sort Seth Godin’s Jozi Geekdinner MP3 download which is now available here along with the powerpoint presentation. With Google Reader I was able to read the post minutes after Mike wrote it on my Nokai N70. With Google Reader you are now able to read your RSS anywhere at any time on your cell phone. No more having to read prehistoric magazines in your doctors waiting room.
This is goodbye to newspapers, hello eco-friendly RSS.
SAVE a Tree, Read RSS!
