Microsoft is hosting a competition for the best startup business idea called ideaWins.

Have you got a brilliant idea for a startup business, then by submitting it to the ideaWins Competition you could win the following:

Free retail space in New York city.
$100,000 to get your business started.

And as part of the promotion of the competition Microsoft is plugging in a some promotion of their free Microsoft Office Account Express 2007 as an initiative to help get startups started.

And if you were wondering, yes, I am pro open source, but I’m also pro startup empowerment and community contribution, and this feels like it.

Its an awesome idea and a great competition. Personally I think it is just a way for Microsoft to put its foot in the start up scene. MS are behind in my opinion but are making a smooth comeback with Live.com. Vista and the new office are looking very good aswell!

I agree Microsoft is look’n very snazzy lately, but I’m afraid I already only make minimal use of my Windows XP, and use about .1% of Microsoft Office.
Also, I’m already hooked on Google.
