HowTo create & use 2007 SA Blog Awards widget

View Comments 12 February 2007

Surprize, surprize while roadtripping to the Garden Route Geekdinner Your Web AddiCT(s); posted a pic of Miguel coding while on the road. Why would anyone code on the road, apart from being a geek? Adding the finishing touches to the new improved 2007 SA Blog Awards site.My favourite-favourite part of the site is the widget that allows you to add a nomination button to your blog that will allow users to submit your blogs URL to the new SA blog awards site.

This is HowTo create and use 2007 SA Blog awards widget:

Got a Blog? Get a Widget. Click Get a Widget at the top right of the SA Blog Awards site.

The SA Blog Awards 2007 Widget Wizard will now appear. Enter your blog URL and select the category you wish to be nominated for. If you hold the CTRL key you are able to select morethan one nomination category for the SA Blog Awards. This is my favourite :)

Click the Get Widget button. and you’ll be given code to copy/paste the code into your blog post or sidebar of your blog.
You can choose between a white background or a black background widget simply by clicking on them. By clicking on either of the them, the code supplied will change appropriately.

Awesome Rafiq – great job on the website, just one thing. I’ve been getting the following error when submitting “Database is connected: could not read or write data from/to it.”

And with regards to your widget how could I construct the url to automatically populate more than category?

  2. TYFYC Wezzo – Database problem fixed, your second query is like people asking to run MXit on their pc. Try reading the post again and you might spot the folliwng:

If you hold the CTRL key you are able to select morethan one nomination category for the SA Blog Awards.

    :-P

  3. Wezzo says:

Ohhhh shit – haha sorry just looked at the pics.

  4. Wezzo says:

Nope still getting the same error when trying to vote.

  5. TYFYC Wezzo – I’m gonna give it a go shortly, will let you know if i experience any problems.

  6. Wezzo says:

Ok I got the response email finally, still gave the error when I submitted though – at least I know my noms are in.

  7. Wezzo please fwd that confirmation email to me@rafiq.za.net

Hi! Not sure if you are still developing this, but the “Get Widget” button on the 2008 version of the site seems to do nothing (unless the blog url is invalid, or no categories are selected, in which case it provides an error message). Any help please?

    SJ

  9. Hi SuperJ, I emailed you a moment ago, the problem has been sorted out. The widget was throwing an IE6 googly.
