The True Test of Mobility

5 Comments 03 April 2007

Woot! Tomorrow I’ll be leaving for a 5 day trip canoeing on the Orange River. I’m really excited, as I’ve never been canoeing before, and it’ll be good to get out, as I’m usually stuck indoors in front of my laptop, but I’m also a bit nervous leaving the office, especially in a time now that there is soo much happening, in our business, on the Net, and everywhere else we look, its seems.

So, as I see it, this is going to be my mobility test. I’ll be twittering a little bit everyday and posting photo’s to my flickr account and maybe sometimes straight to this blog.
I’ll be collaborating with Rafiq on, amongst other things, our VeloCITI assignment, via my cellphone, either by fring, or plain old drawings on paper, take photo and send.

My cellphone is going to die in no time if I’m not careful, so I will probably be in contact in the morning and evening. Do any of you have any tips to keep my cellphone battery lasting longer?

Also, feel free to give me any tips on connectivity and mobility with technology, if you have any :)

Have you read these yet?

Miguel, if you on the orange river, how sure are you that you will have reception? ;-)

Hey, I don’t even know. I’m just hoping that I’ll get cellphone reception. Anyways, I won’t die without connectivity for a few days… I hope.
I think the point of these things is actually do quite the opposite of what I’m trying to do. Most people usually do this to get away from work, and here is me, even when I’m away I want to work :)

Hey, lucky you. Regarding connectivity – use http://www.barablu.com via GPRS so you are not reliant on Wifi for IM – not sure if voice also works over GPRS …… or check out ebuddy

Thanks for the suggestions, but I already got Fring on my cell, and I’m pretty happy with it. If perhaps those services it used up less of my battery power, then I’ll jump on it faster than, well you can use your imagination.
