Yeigo meet MXit, MXit meet Yeigo

0 Comments 15 April 2007

Just before a VeloCITI session at the Bandwidth barn Your Web AddiCT bumped into the Quirkstars chatting to the Yeigo team.

The Yeigo Blog smells of gottaQuirk. I presume Quirk are managing Yeigo’s online everything?

We’ve saved on text messages with MXit by jabbering a conversation instead of SMS’ing. Yeigo adds VOIP to your mobile so you’re able to save on making calls using Voice Over IP instead of good old GSM (Pay for just the data not for the irritating meerkat ads).

Got me thinking, whats next for MXit? Seams pretty obvious that VoIP will be available in a future version of MXit. The evolution of mobile communication tends towards doing everything over Internet Protocol.

The easiest way for MXit to add VoIP to the mobile communication offering would be to colab (Naspers have just purchased a 30% stake in MXit so im sure they’ll be able to) buy a Voip startup. A Voip starup like Yeigo.

Yeigo has all the technology available to make voice calls on your mobile phone at data rates. MXit has the Naspers funding & 3million plus users wanting more.

Yeigo meet MXit, MXit meet Yeigo. Adding Voip functionality to an increasingly popular mobile instant messaging platform that already has a HUGE user-base is a no-brainer if you ask me.
