Africa, Blogging

This blog jumps the locally hosted ship.

R4000 for bandwidth hosting this blog in South Africa vs R400 for the same amount of traffic almost anywhere else on earth.

While we’re at it we’re changing the domain name to www.webaddict.co.za Can anyone guess why?

What do you have to do excpet wait for the page to load a little longer if you’re in South Africa? Absolutely nothing. Why? It has already been moved :)

Think SARS should have a special tax rebate for some of us being ripped off by Telkom Bandwidth fees. We’ve still got our server with your website sitting nicely in a Cape Town based data-center. We have only moved this blog offshore.

I’d like to repeat. We have only move this bandwidth hungry blog, NOT any other websites.

As I said before it’s a pointless argument wanting to host in South Africa. Rather focus your energy on providing your services. The World Is Flat and Internet is the great leveller of our age. So good on you for making this move finally. I have been hosting in USA for years now and my clients all benefit from cheap hosting with superb support. And nobody has ever complained about the speed of web pages loading – ever!

Sigh, We tried to stick to “local is lekker”, but sadly in the case of bandwidth, we just can’t operate with those costs.

do it.. do it… It means you make the R3600 profit each month and not Telkom.
