iGoogle lands in South Africa but…

1 Comment 05 July 2007

So Google have added the personalised home page to their South African property at Google.co.za known as iGoogle.

Somehting’s missing though: Been using iGoogle for years now but have found that Google Reader more useful for my needs lately, it even works on your mobile phone.

Something Your Web AddiCT has noticed when already being signed into my Google Account using Gmail, Analytics, Adsense, Google reader.

You are asked to log in to the South African vesion of iGoogle even though you are already logged into your Google account soemwhere else. Heck, landing on Bizcommunity even shows that you’re logged into your Google account.

Checked the Official Google blog and found nothing on iGoogle.

Google, when you read this, please update the South African version of iGoogle.

Pretty smart move from Captal G that when landing on Google.co.za you aren’t immediately redirected to iGoogle they way you are on Google.com. Most South Africans are just getting to grips with what blogging is. We haven’t even gotten to widgets yet. Nice one. When can we expect to have the re-login issue fixed?

On the widget tip, Bizcommunity have started blogging and are using the Bizcommuntiy widget created by yours truly as part of their blog, top fold too, thanks for the link love.

Are you signed into Google elsewhere at a google.com address? If so, the reason you must sign into iGoogle has to do with browser security. Cookies can’t be read across domains.
