Wohoo! After much theme shopping, plugin exploring, tweaking, hacking and developing, I’ve have finished the new design of Your Group of Web AddiCT(s); Blog. Have a look see at the result and let us know what you think. I hope you all will like it.
A lot of my design inspiration was taken from the new ProBlogger Design, which I think is very elegant and effective. The original theme from which I started and adapted our new theme is from Design Disease, thanks a lot to them.
Some of the new features on this blog include:
Meyshans Ultimate Search King – Ajaxified search that allows you to tab between our blog’s search results and that of Google, Yahoo and MSN, for your search query.- Extended Live Archives – Ajaxified browsing of blog archives
- Recommendit – Recommend Articles for new visitors
- Commenting System Overhaul, using live preview, ajax spell checking and submitting of comments, (un)subscribe to comments, comments in RSS feeds and automatic welcoming of new commenters to the blog via email.
- Our Community Cloud – Shows a “Tag Cloud” of all the people who have commented on Your Group of Web AddiCT(s); Blog and who have submitted their website / blog address with their comment so we can link back.
- Oh! and be sure to check out the rotating quirky tech quotes (try saying that 3 times quickly) at the bottom right corner of the blog, from 101 Techquotes plugin
Hip Hip! Horay! for a new generation in Your Group of Web AddiCT(s); life cycle.

Congratulation on continuing to push the boundaries of web development and blogging in South Africa. I would like you to sit in on my Blogging seminar in Cape Town on 13 September – free – to give me some feedback on the course material cover. It’ll be at CITI.
Your RecommendIt plugin seems to be acting up a bit there.
How do you mean it’s acting up?
Yo Guys
Great new theme, really like the layout. Please optimize your javascript.. you’re loading roughly 1Mb of JS.. its gonna kill 56k users and my broadband users’ caps.
Ciao
I’m getting this error:
Warning: array_search(): Wrong datatype for second argument in /usr/www/users/webadd/wp-content/plugins/recommendit.php on line 94
Warning: array_search(): Wrong datatype for second argument in /usr/www/users/webadd/wp-content/plugins/recommendit.php on line 52
nice design. also a good thing that you kept it almost the same but tweaked it… I really need to get my blog redesigned…
btw, what’s what all the adsense?
Thanks guys. Ja, I was worried the javascript would be a problem. I kinda knew it was a bit too hectic, but decided to give it a go anyways.
I hope it doesn’t look too obtrusive though.
Paul, I’ve debugged that Recommendit Plugin. (At my weak defence: Not Made Here)
UNO, All the Adsense? Well, you know
Love it guys, well done, loads find from here by the way!
Why you removed ultimate meyshan search king. Any reason? Now the plugin has been updated again
Another thing, its mobile friendly too. Hop on over with your phones browser or Opera Mini and see
Hi daya. The main reason why I disabled the meyshan search plugin, was because, combined with the other plugins it was just too resource intensive.
Checking out our blog on webwait.com, we load in an average of 24.55 seconds without the meyhsan search plugin, which is long enough as it is, but with the plugin it averages 35.3 seconds, which is too long for a feature that is a nice to have, not a necessity.
I’ve managed to find a CSS optimization plugin which combines and compresses all used css files.
If I could find something like that for javascript files, I wouldn’t mind using your search plugin.
I like it! Well done.
Rafiq, this is a great improvement!
I love it too Rafiq , J’adore !
keep up the good work bro
I saw you had some issues yesterday but today the site looks really great! Well done man, keep it up!!
Ja, We were having some weird problem with the theme changing itself to the default theme on its own, but it’s fixed now. Thanks
