How To Run MXit v5.3 On Your PC

The first thing you will need before you continue is Java Runtime Environment for your PC.
Download it here: Java Runtime Environment 6 Download Page

Now once you have downloaded and installed Java Runtime Environment Download Mpowerplayer
Here: http://webstart.mpowerplayer.com/
A download dialog box will appear, download the file and run it, it will open a new window, and begin
downloading mpowerplayer.

Once Its downloaded and installed you will then have to download the MXit file.
Download it here: MXit download

Because your on your pc, No phone will be detected by the MXit site, so follow these steps to download it for your PC.

Step 1

Step 2

Now select a phone, I recommend Nokia.

Step 3

Now choose a model, You may choose any model you like.

Step 4

Now follow the steps until you get to the download page.

Step 5

Now select Normal and a download dialog box will appear.

Download the file, Make sure you know where its downloading to.

Step 6

Once its downloaded open up mpowerplayer from the start menu,
Start>All Programs>Mpowerplayer.

Step 7

Select file>Open

Step 8

Select the file you downloaded, it will have a long name like this:

Now MXit will load up, Login like you would on your phone and continue, It will connect,
and login, just like it does on your phone. and the main screen will appear.

You know have MXit on your PC!!

EVERYTIME YOU WOULD LIKE TO RUN MXIT ON YOUR PC AGAIN, YOU WILL HAVE TO RE DOWNLOAD IT EACH TIME,
YOU CANNOT USE THE SAME MXIT FILE TWICE.

Candice, I’m not familiar with The MAC OS, I’m not sure if Mpowerplayer is compatible with MAC, try following the same Method- download Mpowerplayer- if it does support MAC, and download the MXit file, And follow the same method as above.

Yip, i do use that, however i just wanted the mxit “interface” that comes with v 5.3 for PC, (if u know what i mean, im an ubuntu dude )

Zama, Check that your login details are correct, If they are make sure your firewall isn’t blocking Mpowerplayer from accessing the internet. Let me know if you have further trouble.

i cant downlaod mixit on my 6610i…it always says connection lost yet there is nothing wrong with my GPRS settings…please help

i would like to know how i could change to m new mxit on my pc cause my number has changed and would like to chat with my new no. ive tried almost everything, inistalling mpowerplayer re-installing in, downloading new mxit.jar files, but none of them seem to make it possible for me to change the number before i log in, putting auto login off and remember password off also doesnt work, number still stays permanent

subaru-chick, Try downloading a different version on the mxit site, like v5.2 instead of version 5.2.1 it might let you register a new number when you load it up.

hey dude, this mpowerplayer thing doesnt work for me, i tried it and it just keeps logging in, idk what to do, was in it the other day with a version 3 but now that one doesnt wana load either, do you know of anything i can do, ps i did not use the same mxit file twice

Hmmmmm, Ive never heard that happening, Try this:
Open Mpowerplayer, Then in the search option, type MXit, then run v3 from there.

Are you using the same MXit file more than once?
Remember: You have to download a new MXit file each time you login again.

Also make sure you delete old MXit files, as their names are all very similar, So you might be opening the wrong MXit file each time.

v5.3 is no longer available, It has been taken down until further notice. However if you were lucky enough to download it whilst it was up, Then you can add multimx’s and invite people with lower Versions to join it.

To all having the problem where ur permanently connecting goto ur firewall settings and then change settings, allows this program thru ur firewall:
C:\program files\java\
then select the javaws and javaw.
it will work.

Yeah Theos firewalls sometimes block Applications from using the internet, Also some Modems have “Port Filters” That block programs that use the net from connecting, But i won’t explain how to remove Port filters as its very complicated.

Here’s how you only download mxit only once, get the jad file, open that with notepad, copy the midlet jar url to your browser window, but don’t close notepad yet!
After you have downloaded the jar file open it using winrar -just open winrar and browse to it- , now open the META-INF folder in the jar file and drag and drop the MANIFEST.MF file to somwhere, the desktop is fine, open the MANIFEST file with notepad.
After the last line in the MANIFEST paste the last few lines of the jad file, it should look like this for 5.4:

Save the file and go back to winrar replace the MANIFEST file with the modified one (just drag and drop) and select ok to replace.
You can now just always use that jar file with mpowerplayer to run mxit, no more downloading!
Note, line c:??? is a serial number, and only one number can work with 1 serial, thus if you take the above info and place it into your MANIFEST file, it WILL NOT WORK! you wil get the message “your mxit client could not be validated, please download again…”

hi, im hoping im writing this to the right connection. im trying to download mixit right but have to start from the begining. downlaoding java and then mpowerplayer and mixt. im new when it comes to the pc thing so my question is the java downlaod meant to take this long. PLEASE HELP

Liesl, If you have a slow connection Like dial up, Then unfortunately it will take a while. Just be Patient

Liesl, I would recommend using a download manager to download the off line installation file of java and the mpowerplayer sdk.

Yes you can, just input the same number and login details as you use on your your mobile.
You cannot however use them both simultaneously.
