We have been tracking the growth of the South African network on Facebook.
One of the things Your Web AddiCT does at Quirk… spending lots of of time using Facebook Flyers Pro and a new feature added to Flyers Pro on Facebook is that they now show the size of the network you taget your ads to.
The South Africa network on Facebook is currently standing at 383,753 people. Thos are South Africans who have joined the South Africa Network on Facebook.
Can you believe it? 605,820 people in South Africa on Facebook. Thats is a very large percentage of South African Internet users. Many hours of productivity and all that bandwidth going to Facebook. Time to Facebook Less. Will be writing a more detailed eMarketing flavoured post over at GottaQuirk after doing some Facebook Flyer placement.

Very interesting. I didn’t realize there was that many in SA either. I wonder how many of those accounts are active?
TYFYC hash – My facebook flyer quirking is focussed on the UK network at the moment so not sure abotu South Africa.
One thing I do know is that Facebook is the number one site in South Africa… stickier than Google.
Darn Zombies and Vampire invites killing all the bandwidth & time.
Awesome information Rafiq. I had speculated about 100,000 above the South African network. And now I realise double the number listed in the SA network is very realistic.
If you round off Arthur Goldstuck’s Internet user number to 4 million this means about 15% of SA Internet users are on Facebook. And this likely makes Facebook the largest online community, even bigger than any of the banks. And boy do they have a long way to go in terms of creating a online community from their clients.
