The GRID, How to get access for FREE (SMS not required)

14 Comments 28 March 2008

The GRID I’m sure most of you have heard about The GRID but did not want to bother checking The GRID out due to the premium SMS issue.

I’ve just figured out how to get access to The GRID without having to send and premium rate SMS messages. Web AddiCT(S); like free SMS and Free MMS ;) Firstly head on over to The GRID, sign up with your preferred username, password and mobile phone number. They’re giving away an iMac and an iTouch if you sign up for The GRID here to stand a chance to win the Apple iMac and iTouch. Once signed up head on over to http://wap.thegrid.co.za on your mobile phone.

Once signed up for The GRID please add me as your friend. My username on The GRID is non other than rafiq ;-P

disclosure – The GRID have tempted me by offering a 1 in 9 chance of receiving a Nokia 6110 Navigator just by blogging about it. You already know how huge a Nokia fan I am & my Nokia N70 is reaching the end of it’s lifespan…

Have you read these yet?

So if I add you as a friend, will I a) not deal with the premium sms issue and b) inherit your Nokia 6610 after you graciously give me your prize?

Have to agree with what other people have said about The Grid: sounds like a cool idea, poor implementation. The UI is not very intuitive.

I was invited to help test The GRID when they were still in development by Simon, the fring blogger and I was never very impressed with it. It had the look and feel of a Counterstrike fan page – even the theme seemed a tad militaristic.

The idea of connecting people by posting images of certain locations seemed alright, but everything is a mission … as Simone says – UI is a huge problem. I think it lacks focus.

Tristan – I hate the premium SMS. I feel alone on The GRID (it’s The GRID not The Grid, thier PR people will have a fit. They’re building a brand) so add me please if you can figure it out.

Id love it if we could hook twitter up with The GRID.

Jayx – Why didn’t the GRID get more people involved sooner. Having many issues with figuring out how to do things on The GRID. Don’t mke me think dammit.

They’d have to change their logo if the PR people are hoping to create a brand… The GRID is “The Grid” in their logo :P

    Looks interesting though.

But NOKIA?!?! Come on, Windows Mobile is the way to go now :D

Rafiq thanx for posting and to everyone who commented thank you. Your feedback will help shape The GRID into a better product!

This is the type of involvement that should have been introduced from the beginning. The GRID team is now working very hard to get more community involvement and your feedback is greatly appreciated and will help to point the team in the right direction.

Btw the SMS is not exactly premium rated (it’s 50c), however yes I totally agree that free sms and mms is the way to go, – lucky until that happens there are always ways of bypassing these issues, hats off to Rafiq for pointing this out.

As for the UI, I have to agree with Simone, however in the same breath I must say that The GRID is “a way cool idea” and the good news is that the team is hard at work fixing the UI, and your comments will help speed this up.

James, I love the way you think ;-) Thanx for this feedback.

Thanx again to everyone who commented your feedback is much appreciated. Could I ask that we add feedback to our forum, this will help track the feedback and give it some priority when the technicians are fixing things, thanx guys.
