However, I agree with Glen: local is lekker – but ag pleeze peeple – there’s a WHOLE world out there.. 5 continents, over 50 countries… The www-world…She is so B-E-E-G…Why worry or even talk about how big you are in a small pond ?

I find this local ego stuff in south africa quite funny. I’m yet to understand why people want to self promote themselves as South Africa’s next big thing when there is a whole world (and audience) out there.

I think Mandy is right, but not just for South African bloggers.

I think mainstream localised bloggers (not specialised) in general are myopic no matter where you go. I have worked in India, Brazil and the US and found the same thing over and over.

The few exceptions are natural disaster/crisis blogging and celeb blogging.

When you add language into the mix it becomes even more acute.
