Unable to install or uninstall Adobe AIR?

9 Comments 11 March 2009

So while Adobe AIR was being updated to the latest version 1.5.something the internet connection dropped.

Tried launching the app I keep tabs on the statusphere with (yip another new word) and the following error message pops up:adobe-air-error-install-feedalizr

This requires a version of Adobe AIR that cannot be found. Please download the latest version of the runtime from ….

So I pop over to Adobe to get AIR, download the .dmg and try to install…

cannot install or uninstall adobe air on my macbook air after... on TwitPic

When trying to uninstall Adobe AIR again the same thing happens. Now Adobe AIR cannot be uninstalled or installed. Been unable to find any help out there on the wwworld wide web.

If you have the solution please post a comment below. Thanks.

    Format your computer

    That is not an option.

Do you have any input managers installed on your Mac? They’d appear in /Library/InputManagers. Several are known to be incompatible with AIR and could be causing the install to fail.

I think it’s also possible you have a corrupted AIR install that’s tripping up the installer. If /Library/Frameworks/Adobe AIR.framework is present on your machine, try removing it and then re-installing.

If neither of these work, let me know and we can investigate further.

    thanks,

    Thanks Oliver.

Had a corrupted AIR install, after removing /Library/Frameworks/Adobe AIR.framework I could then install Adobe AIR on my Mac once again :)

I have removed all the files in the input mangers folder, and the AIR.framework is not on my machine. Still no luck removing/reinstalling. Is there a an unistaller that I can download.

There should be Adobe AIR Uninstaller.app in your Utilities folder

I also have the same problem trying to install/uninstall Adobe Air. Everytime I double-click Adobe Installer, it says I already have the latest version on my system. I have a Mac running 10.5 and can’t find the actual Adobe program nor the UNinstaller in any of my folders. I looked in Library and there are no frameworks in there, and I also looked in Utilities, no luck. Is there an uninstaller somewhere so that I can install it again?

The uninstall logic is built in to the installer. To force it to attempt an uninstall, run it from a Terminal window with the -uninstall flag:

“…/Adobe AIR Installer.app/Contents/MacOS/Adobe AIR Installer” -uninstall

i cant even find traces of adobe air on ma computer, not in the library, not in frame works
in fact this is wat i get wen i try to force uninstall it
-bash: …/Adobe: No such file or directory

    what else can i do?
