New theme’s AddiCTive metrics

View Comments 06 October 2009

On 1 October 2009 the new Web AddiCT(s); theme went live. It is still very early to measure real changes as more data over a longer period of time is needed but some of the visitor metrics available from Google Analytics looks promising. The following images will represent a reduction in bounce rate and an increase in page views per user. This clearly shows that people who come to the site (majority from search engines) are now finding what they are looking for and the increase in page views demonstrate that the related content that is easily accessible from each post is relevant to the information they are searching for and finding :)

The following images display the positive change in page views and decrease bounce rate since the new theme has been live.

Page Views have doubled.

Page Views have doubled.

Bounce Rate has decreased from above 50% to just 1%

Bounce Rate has decreased from above 50% to just 1%

I have personally never seen a site with a bounce rate of 1% before have you? To me, this demonstrates that crowdsourcing the design of this blog has benefited everyone. I’d like to thank every one of you who assisted and gave constructive criticism in putting the design together. No the background is not peach it’s the colour of honeycomb. If you are wondering what this has done to the Advertising revenue stay tuned. I’ll post that soon.

Is this not more relative to the increase in post frequency?

    Just askin' :)

  2. The post frequency increased a long time before the new theme was released. I think this demonstrates the power of good, or better, design compared to what we had before.

Ah, was hoping to hear that that was the case! Well, for one, the page views would increase, the blog is now so much neater and it's easier to navigate to different areas, and as far as the bounce rate goes – that would be directly proportional to the page views I reckon?

    Good job!

I'm loving the theme. It's solid. TechCrunch like. The Facebook fans are also gowing now. :)

  5. Glad you like it. Thanks again for designing this. Will mail you a few more tweaks I think we need to implement.
