They say “History repeats itself, but opportunity doesn’t.”
Google has given Cape Townians a golden opportunity to take part of the launch of Google Maps in South Africa, this Friday October 30 at the University of Cape Town.
Speakers will include Google Business Product Manager Jarda Bengl, (This is also a good chance to connect for those interested ).
The Talk will cover an Introduction to development with the Google Maps API and to quote from Google themselves …
We’ll show some examples of great implementations, then cover the basics of how to add a map to your site including Javascript techniques to create maps, place markers, handle clicks, geocode addresses, add driving directions and work with Street View.
Sounds like it will be very interesting although you will need basic knowledge of XHTML, CSS, XML and Javascript.
Duration of the Talk : From 10:00-12:30
Location: University of Cape Town, Lecture Theatre 302, Computer Science building, 18 University Avenue, UCT Upper Campus
