Imagine having all the power of Google Android powering your car audio system. Imagine no more. This will soon become a reality thanks to Parrot Asteroid.

Gone are the days of having a device for GPS. Google Maps with navigation will do this on the on the Parrot Asteroid.
Gone are the days of having to require a special car kit for your mobile phone. With the Asteroid by Parrot you’ll be able to press one button, say ‘Call person name’ and the car radio that is Android powered will do it for you. Some other features coming to the Asteroid include:

  1. Android apps to find Parking, the nearest petrol station or any point of interest. You’d even be able to be notified of speed traps.
  2. Play music via SD card, FM radio, stream music and radio direct from various online sources. You can even used Voice Activated music search to find the artist or track of your choice.
  3. You could even play angry birds if you really wanted to.

    This really does look awesome.
    I already use my Android phone for GPS navigation, so something like this would be great.

    I use a hacked version of Google Masps called Brut Maps.

    It is based on Google Maps 4.6, so you don’t get the vector based maps with rotate and all the nice features of Maps 5, but I find the navigation works very well.

    I keep the audio down, because I don’t like the voice, so I just look at the screen, but I used to do that with my Tom Tom anyway.

    Although I’m not a big fan of Android, I’m into blackberry but this looks good,
