The technology with one of the highest (97%) open rates in the communication/marketing industry, SMS, never gets the credit it deserves. This is mainly due to the fact that we all get spammed on an almost daily basis by unethical opportunists trying to sell us a better insurance quote and those ads on late night TV with dubious content and evil subscription fees. They all use the same SMS technology to fill their grubby coffers with the air time and hard earned money of an uneducated public that hardly understand, let alone read, the fine print.
SMS is not the enemy, bad businesses are. There are countless examples of how SMS technology is being used daily that enhance, simplify or improve our lives. The days of bulk text messaging are long gone. Instead effective text messaging programs personalize messages to the needs and expectations of the receiver.
