Google updates Gmail on personalised homepage (/ig) 👐 Web AddiCT 🇿🇦

2 Google posts in succession? Straight after the previous Goole Post, I whip out my cell (mobile) phone, not to MXit, to access my perosonalised Google homepage(/ig) using Opera Mini. I’ve noticed that the Gmail section loads differently when accesing it via a web browser. Didn’t think it was ‘blogworthy’ until trying to access Gmail via /ig using Opera Mini on the good old Nokia 6100. Unbale to access the Gmail via /ig using Opera Mini due to the Gmail update on the personalised Google homepage. All that is visible on the Gmail personalised section is ‘Loading…’. Well there is always mail.google.com , which works via Opera Mini. If a Googler or even an Xoogler reads this, please let the powers that be do something to fix the little problem… 😉

I doubt that there are very mobile browsers that can handle the gmail Javascript at this stage. Gmail being a fullblown AJAX app it uses things like iFrames and XMLHttpRequest() and will require a fairly meaty browser.

A further hurdle is that Opera Mini does all its web requests via a central server that prereads the sites and tries to do tons of fixes and manipulations to the code beforehand, and asking it too understand the complex AJAX JS seems like a stretch.

I may be wrong but I don’t think these light weight mobile browsers will be too happy with AJAX at this stage, ever seen a working example? I would love to know about it.
