Google taking over, but in a good way
I just found another nifty feature of google desktop the other day by accident. If you have google desktop, try tapping the ctrl button twice and check a google search box pops up square in the center of your screen to search your pc.
However, it not olny searches your hard drive files but also recent documents, bookmarks, emails and probably more I don’t know about.
My first reaction to google all of a sudden popping up just out of know where was, Ahh!, but hey this is pretty cool, and then Wow! this is great.
I think I must already have everything of google firmly and definitely soaked into my laptop. Google Desktop, GTalk, Google Updater, Gmail with Chat, Google Personalized Hompage, Google Web Accelerator.
I know some people might be a little disconcerted by this. To think that Google can know EVERYTHING I do, not only on the internet, but also on my own pc. Sort of like google is breaching it’s domain. It’s crawling through your pc like a virus and tell anything about your life. Like digging through someones metaphorical trash can.
But you know what I say, I don’t care if google if indexed my entire life on my pc. If it makes my life easier and more efficient as it most certainly has done then good going. I don’t care if someone on the other side of the world can see what I’ve been doing on the Internet or on my PC. If someones creeping over my shoulder or physically on my PC digging around, that’s another story, I have to face that person. I think just as long as google doesn’t let my details slip to somebody with malicous intent everthings grand.
One more parting thought before I close out.
Just imagine, if you will, what will happen in say 10-20 years time when Googe’s taken over the world in terms of Information accessibility, with google’s ability to know everything you done and been doing for the past however many years of your life, it could be able to anticipate your every action. It is said, Humans are creatures of habit. Imagine Google able to anticipate what you’re about to do, about to think based on your history and habits. Now THAT will be a little disconcerting I think.
