Dedicated to Locally Hosted Thought
So our Great web host has done a traffic usage analysis of all the domains Your Group of Web AddiCT(s); manage. Due to the excessive bandwidth (what is webhosting bandwidth ?) you keep munching on this blog they have advised us to get a dedicated server for our Locally hosted thoughts on Web ‘2.0’ Application Development, Design & Innovation in Cape Town.
Based on the information, although your monthly hosting fees have not yet reached the monthly cost for a dedicated server, your traffic over usage charges would warrant a dedicated server. Your traffic over usage would be cheaper at 9c per MB.The high volume dedicated server would be appropriate.
Pretty soon we’ll be running on our very own dedicated server with the following specs…
- 20 GB monthly traffic
- Hardware: Pentium4 3.2Ghz (or equivalent)
- 1GB DDR RAM, 80GB IDE
- Caters for 700 domains
- Custom Linux configuration
- 100 MBit redundant network
- Anti-virus & spam-filtering programs
- Daily back-ups
- Dedicated IP address
Basicly everything that we already have except the dedicated IP address & much cheaper bandwidth. Telkom would be a different place if our Web host was in charge. They’re not even charging for the setup (Saving us R3000).
If you’d like to get your own dedicated server post a comment and I’ll give you the low-down on who to speak to.
