Apply to do a 3 minute talk at TEDglobal2007?
Ememka popped the TED Gloabl 2007 fellows an email.
Dear TED Global Fellows,
The clock is ticking and the conference is just over 7 weeks away. This is a quick check to see if you have something wonderful, ingenious, powerful or hilarious that could be shared from the TED stage in 3 minutes.
For those of you new to TED, we have recently begun offering about a two dozen members of the audience the chance of a few moments of fame and glory at TED. It can be
- an amazing story
- a stunning slideshow
- a special talent
- a brilliant idea
- a snappy outline of your project
- an invention or design breakthrough
…or anything else which will have a knockout impact on the audience
For these slots, we are NOT looking for special pleas for worthy causes. Organizational plugs and political digs are also taboo. The idea is to refresh the palette between the main course items offered by our official speakers.
There have been some hugely successful 3-minute contributions in recent TEDs. Instant fame and affection from other TEDsters await if you get it right!
There will be a lot of applications, I suspect. To get yours selected, just reply to this email and tell me enough to get a real sense of why the audience will be applauding. Evidence of past success at public appearances could help. The three minutes is an absolute hard stop. Please DON’T pitch an idea that won’t work at this length. Requests from WOMEN especially welcomed.
Remember… we’ll be filming these slots. The good ones could end up all over the Internet.
Let me know by the end of the month, and I’ll get back to you by the end of the month or so.
OK, good luck!
Best,
– Emeka
Hmmm, I’ll leave this up to our trusted RSS & IM people Vinny, Rob, Christof, Max, Mike, Dave, Yasser, Tyler, Charl, Stii and everyone else I’ve not linked, list is too long. I’ve got this idea, been throwing it around between Miguel & myself. Haven’t told anyone about it yet. Think I’ll bounce it around the IM between you guys a bit to avoid the inability to translate thought into english before mailing Emeka.
Wat dink julle?
PS: Wondering who Emeka is. Emeka Okafor is the co-producer of TED Global “Africa:The Next Chapter”
