Facebook, Student Sale, Time & MXit 👐 Web AddiCT 🇿🇦

How many of you have lost hours being poked, finding old friends, joining groups and laughing at the time sapping device known as facebook?

Your Web AddiCT has created the I use MXit every day group. If you have a facebook profile you know what to do 😉 (it takes 2 minutes to create a profile on facebook, they do not tell you it takes 2 days to log off after that) Very surprised to see that people have already joined the ‘I use MXit every day’ group on facebook.

Tyler has launched Student Sale (message received via facebook) pop by the Student Sale site to buy and sell stuff at varsity from text books to gadgets.

We added the ‘share on facebook‘ button to all driving schools web pages on iDRIVE.co.za

Apparently there is a mobile version of facebook m.facebook.com haven’t checked it out yet. Out of time, back to it…

I hope NOT to see any local clones of facebook, there are already so many people using facebook here in south africa. Why would anyone want to create a clone?

I have Mxit on my phone and haven’t really used it all that much. It seems to me that for it to really be worthwhile I need to be online all the time and so should my contacts. If that is the case, what does that do to my battery life and how are calls and other data services affected?

TYFYC Paul. I find MXit really useful when stuck in traffic or when lying in bed in the early hours of the morning when ideas come from nowhere. I do one of two things, IM my pc at the office using MXit to jot down ideas or bounce them off the other AddiCT(s); who are usually also online in the wee hours (they know who they are)

Great thign about MXit is that it is jabber. HAve all my friends/family/other AddiCT(s); google talk contact added on MXit that allows me to be in contact with the people that matter most.

Battery life & data depends on your phone. I charge my battery daily as there is always some sort of connectivity happening either via gmail, google reader, MXit, Yeigo or Fring.

Cloning facebook would take some coding and infrastructure.. All the social utilities tracking users.. I think facebook is such a unique idea that you couldnt reinvent it and pass it off as a serious project.. as with the Myspace clones.
