ID President Patricia de Lille has called on Government to look into รƒยขรขโ€šยฌร‹ล“urgently implementing legislation that will regulate MXIT and Internet blogging, where members of the public can with impunity slander and defame individuals and organisations they do not like.รƒยขรขโ€šยฌรขโ€žยข

Maybe we should implement some homeland security measures while they’re at it. We can be just like the US. Once again, blogging & MXit are tools. A bad workman…

Another worrying development in cyberspace is the abuse of blogging, which allows anonymous individuals to post slanderous and defamatory comments with impunity about anyone they choose, without the legal consequences they would face in other more reputable print and electronic media.

Could this be a sign of old school politicians not being in touch with reality? Maybe the ‘pipes’ that the internet runs on will be blamed for the high cost of bandwidth too.
