Most Amazing TEDTalk – Are you ready for awakening? Stroke or Acid

I saw this TED talk blogged by Ze Frank and just had to blog about it. In this talk, Neuroanatomist (brain scientist), Jill Bolte Taylor talks about her experience having massive stroke. This is seriously an amazing talk which I recommend you watch even if it takes long to download.

The reason why this talk struck such a chord with me though, is because it reminds me very much of Oprah’s first ever, currently running, live webcast with Eckhart Tolle, author of A New Earth, which discusses this exact phenomena. Not the stoke part, but the sense of freedom and peace, and the awakening of human consciousness.

As you can imagine Oprah has a massive reach and is highly respected, her first webcast ever was one of the largest single online events in the history of the Internet. More than 500,000 people across over 139 countries simultaneously logged on to watch the even live, resulting in 242 Gbps of information moving through the Internet. Since then the webcast has been viewed by over 2 million people. It’s available for free download here.

I love it when influencial people use technology on such a large scale and demonstrate the absolute magic and power technology can have when used for a good cause.

Another strange thing I found is Ze Frank says Jill’s experience of having a stroke sounds very much like an Acid trip, and someone asked a question to Ekhart Tolle on Oprah’s webcast making that same observation about the awakening of human consciousness, and Ekhart admits to trying Acid to see what people meant and says it does feel the same, but Acid is more violent and didn’t enjoy it 🙂
