Twellow – Look @ the Tweeple, look how they tweet for you
@iematthew shared a twitter service with me that categorizes twitter users by their profile bio’s.
The explosive growth of online social media has led to unprecedented opportunities for finding and connecting with people of experience and expertise in almost every area of interest. However, sifting through the overwhelming volume of content and services in order to connect with like-minded people can be daunting for many online citizens. WebProNews.com is pleased to announce the launch a new service to assist in locating people and organizations who share common interests and goals.
Twellow.com is the newest member of the WebProNews network. Built around a foundation of extensively used open-source technologies, Twellow initially utilizes the freely-available public feed from the social-media service Twitter (www.twitter.com) to find, analyze, and categorize individuals and organizations into various categories of interest. Once categorized, Twellow allows users to browse through pages of listings which have been designed to condense the vast information available into specific niches and interests.
โWe’re really trying to capitalize on the explosion of these online social-media sites,โ explains Rich Ord, founder of WebProNews. โOur initial focus with the introduction of Twellow.com is the business community. Being able to find and connect with people that can help a business grow has huge potential for creating and managing growth.โ
Initial features of the website include a keyword search, which allows the user to find specific people based on biographical information found on Twitter, as well as Web 2.0 technologies that provide updates of users and their communications within the system. Users can be sorted by either follower count or most recent activity, which allows a simple yet powerful way to find relevant users. The system is available free for public use via the Twellow website at www.twellow.com.
โThis is an exciting tool that we believe will bring tremendous value to the end user,โ Ord stated. โThere are a lot of new services out there that are jumping onto the social-media bandwagon, but we believe this tool provides a higher level of utility for the average online user, particularly the business user. And we plan on expanding our coverage in the near future to include other social-media services, in addition to what Twitter has to offer. The potential for this is really quite extensive.โ
