Why Rex The Lion doesn’t need to monitor his rex-putation
In Kevin Kelly’s TED Talk about the next 5000 days of the web he mentions taking a host of technologies freely available on most new websites and mashing them up to create something new. This time, some of the technologies that excited Your Web AddiCT(s); most in February 2007 and still does today, also gets mentioned in Kevin Kelly’s TED talk in December 2007:
- Open Source Software
- Mobile Web Applications
- Widgets
- XML
- RSS
This could be used as a vantage point for Rex The Lion to monitor his rex-putation when his RSS fails him /me thinks. Somewhere he could view happenings on the Social Media plains of the entire African continent. Africa is not a country.
How exactly do we build Rex a virtual Pride Rock out of RSS, XML, Widgets? How then can we make it accessible on the mobile web so that his friends in Kenya can view it? What would the effect be on the various brands’ online reputation that will be included in this mash-up? Don’t forget… there should be some SEO benefits to this some howย too.
Those are the types of questions Your Web AddiCT(s); enjoy asking and finding solutions too.
Here goes an attempt at being coherent in plain English, I’m Feeling Lucky.
Firstly teamwork is required so we turn to various instant messaging and social network platforms and ask for help. Twitter, Skype and Google Talk did the trick and within a few days after having spoken to the guys at Amatomu and Afrigator . The various conversations with afrigator will not be repeated but a tweet from @shawnz is worth mentioning.
