Rest Sample: Day 9 of the #30daychallenge
Having spent most of the day resting in bed, as per doctors orders, the #missionsamsung tv really added a new perspective to entertainment while resting. A sample of the videos I’ve been watching from the playlist created on my phone: Dave Duarte: The Power of Doing Nothing The fun part of this challenge has been being able to participate while lying in bed. I watched it on TV using youtube.com/pair which allows you to watch whatever is on your phone on the Youtube app on your TV in 4 steps:
- Go to the YouTube app on your Samsung TV.
- Under “Settings” find the “Pair Device” option.
- Enter the pairing code shown on the TV into the box below.
- Click the new icon that now appears on your youtube videos select the Samsung LED Smart TV on which your video will play
Why? We are something like apparitions today; juggling a multiplicity of selves through the noise; the “you” you are on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Tinder…wherever…at your day job, your night job, your hobby, your primary relationship, your friend-with-benefits, your incredibly astonishing range of extracurricular activities. But this hyperfragmentation of self gives rise to a kind of schizophrenia; conflicts, dissocations, tensions, dislocations, anxieties, paranoias, delusions. Our social wombs do not give birth to our true selves; the selves explosive with capability, possibility, wonder.

The Samsung Smart LED TV is much more than just an entertainment tool. It all depends on what you want to achieve and what you choose to watch. Before the #missionsamsung challenge I gave my own TV to my dad, sold the TV stand, cancelled my DSTV subscription (all done in a few hours) and spent a few months trying to get the SABC to stop bothering me to pay for a TV license for a TV I didn’t own. When I heard that I needed a TV license to participate in this challenge I renewed via online banking. I then got a call from the SABC about not paying (this call is recorded) which I stated the reference number for payment. On 24 July 2014 I received the following SMS after already paying my TV license and after confirming telephonically:
SABC requires a sworn affidavit stating what happened to your TV set indicating the date and year. This can be send to sabc@vvm.c.za Regards VVM
VVM is SABC’s specialist business process outsourcing service. I’ve also received 2 copies of the of the sworn affidavit via post. I needed to send one proving I gifted my other TV to my father. Wonder why the SABC was in trouble. I don’t any more.
I’ll allow you to comment on the efficiency of the SABC’s Business processes while I rest & do nothing.
