Looking back at 2014 while looking up to 2015
As 2014 comes to a close and almost everyone goes into holiday mode even my bread and butter Google Analytics graphs all settle down for the festive season. Suddenly there is much more time to think as there is more free time available to do what matters most to me. Being a Web AddiCT I’ve been stuck in the digital wwworld for many years but 2014 has been the toughest yet.
So much so that it made me choose to unplug and get back to my roots, I started and completed a 30 day challenge to change everything in my work life which has proven to be the best thing I’ve ever done in years. I am extremely thankful for the many of you who I’ve been meeting for coffee or just hanging out with for your great support. I’m looking up (not forward) to 2015 and have already started planning the steps required well into March 2015 to make the way I work a success. Once again thank you to all of you who provided positive support and the negative that has pushed me in this direction. You may be wondering what direction that is. Unfortunately I’ve changed when and how I share what I’m up to, only sharing once the projects are complete.

While browsing the most popular videos in South Africa on YouTube this ‘Look Up’ poem came in at Number 10. It also reminded me of how rewarding it was to stay offline for 42 days earlier this year. Never have I Looked up for so many consecutive days without the need to tweet, instagram or Google+ something.
Disconnect from the need to be heard and defined
Go out into the world, leave distractions behind.
Look up from your phone, shut down that display,
Stop watching this video, live life the real way.
Look up.
