#MakeItHappen One Month In
A month ago, I took the pledge to spend less time in front of the computer and more time outside. With the help of Lumia, I am proud to say that I have stuck to my word. Deciding to explore the city by foot while getting fit has been a great way to discover hidden gems while simultaneously losing the weight I set out to. There is something truly amazing about the power of nature โ Iโm almost ashamed to have overlooked such a simple and effective activity. From hiking up Lionโs Head to glorious sandy beaches, and even a simple walk around the block, itโs been great for my health and wellness. And thanks to fantastic apps like HERE Maps, miCoach, Geocaching and MSN Health & Fitness, Iโve been able to really discover my city and simultaneously focus on my wellbeing.
The most exciting part of this #MakeItHappen journey has been seeing my steady progress. I am happy to say that I do not feel like I am missing out by not going to the gym. The beauty and challenge of nature is more than enough for me. I feel stronger every day and I am much closer to running that 5k than I was a month ago.
I’ve been going on weekend hikes with some old and new friends from the Cape Explore Hiking & Adventure Club. Running and cycling on the promenade in Sea Point, bi-weekly fitness boot camps and the past weekend I even went for a trail run on the Table Mountain Pipe Track.

The 5K doesn’t appear as daunting as I first thought, so much so that I know plan to complete the Impi Challenge in a few weeks. It’s amazing what is possible when you commit to #MakeItHappen.
If you would like to commit to a goal, that may or may not be fitness related, you can make it happen with Lumia. Apart from getting helpful apps and daily motivation, Lumia is giving you the chance to win a Lumia device. Watch the video below to find out what Chris Forest has to say about pledging.
