I was recently introduced to Johannesburg based startup Giraffe.co.za by the good folks at Springlab.

Giraffe is a revolutionary new recruitment app that helps you find the best staff for your business. Focusing on medium-skilled jobs in retail, admin, hospitality, security, construction and many other sectors, Giraffe will find you the most trusted, reliable workers in your area. Simply post your job vacancy on Giraffe’s website, and Giraffe’s intelligent matching engine will automatically identify the most suitable candidates for the job, notify them by SMS and schedule interviews

With the aim of assisting employers finding semi-skilled labourers you can find anything from  admin staff, baristas and cashiers to supervisors, receptionists and waiters.

Giraffe helps businesses find trusted, reliable workers- quickly and easily.

We understand that businesses struggle to find good workers, and rely on word of mouth or expensive recruitment agents to find candidates. Similarly, jobseekers struggle to find jobs- also relying on word of mouth, agents or brokers.

There is currently nothing like this in South Africa to help the unemployed find jobs, or rather letting the jobs find the unemployed. Herein lies huge potential to bring about massive social change by changing the way people find work all thanks to technology.
